US 'very shortly' to target drugs coming in by land: Trump
'We've taken out almost 100% of the drugs coming in by water. Now we're going to be, very shortly, starting drugs coming in by land,' says president
WASHINGTON
President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the US will soon intensify efforts to stop drugs from entering by land.
"We're starting to do that on land. The land is much easier," Trump told reporters at a White House briefing.
The Trump administration has intensified military operations in the Caribbean Sea and Eastern Pacific Ocean since September, citing efforts against narcotics trafficking.
Trump said 97% of the drugs coming in from water have been eliminated.
"We've taken out almost 100% of the drugs coming in by water. Now we're going to be, very shortly, starting drugs coming in by land. We know exactly where they're coming from," he added.
