US lawmaker Mace to force vote on censuring Republican colleague Cory Mills
'This is not a man who should be sitting in the House Armed Services Committee or the Committee on Foreign Affairs,' says Rep. Nancy Mace
WASHINGTON
US Rep. Nancy Mace introduced a resolution Wednesday to censure her Republican colleague Cory Mills and have him removed from the House Armed Services and Foreign Affairs Committee for allegations of assault, stolen valor and abuses toward women.
Mace urged House Speaker Johnson to strip the Republican lawmaker of his committee assignments, citing a string of personal controversies that have kept Mills under public scrutiny throughout the year.
"Rep. Mills’ record is tainted by allegations of stolen valor, domestic a*use, and arms deals with the U.S. government and foreign nations while serving in Congress.
"This is not a man who should be sitting in the House Armed Services Committee or the Committee on Foreign Affairs," Mace wrote on US social media company X.
Democrats have floated a censure against Mills on three occasions but refrained after Republicans failed to censure Reps. LaMonica McIver and Ilhan Omar, and most recently, Resident Commissioner Stacey Plaskett.
