Federal law enforcement agencies are monitoring several unconfirmed threats related to the memorial service for Charlie Kirk, set to take place this Sunday in Glendale, Arizona, according to a security assessment released Thursday.

The threats, though of unknown credibility, reportedly target attendees such as US President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and members of the Kirk family, according to ABC News.

A memo issued by the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, Secret Service, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives warned that violent extremists or lone actors may view the memorial as a potential target due to the attendance of high-profile individuals, including senior government officials and political figures, as well as the intense media coverage surrounding the event.

The memo, obtained by ABC News, was shared with law enforcement and government agencies.

In light of the potential risks, DHS has designated the funeral as a Special Event Assessment Rating (SEAR) Level 1 event — the highest security level, on par with events like the Super Bowl or the Boston Marathon.

Although officials say there is currently no credible or verified plot against the memorial, they are taking precautions due to the nature of the threats and recent incidents of political violence, particularly in Arizona.

The report highlights lone offenders as the primary concern but also notes risks posed by domestic extremists and foreign terrorist groups.

Secret Service Special Agent William Mack, who is leading the federal coordination for the funeral, said teams are already deployed in Phoenix and Glendale, working closely with local, state, and federal partners to ensure tight security.

Local police, including the Glendale Police Department, are also on high alert due to the expected large crowds and elevated threat level surrounding the memorial.
