US' Boeing Osprey military aircraft makes emergency landing in Japan
No injury reported, some flights affected

KARACHI, Pakistan
The Osprey transport aircraft of the US military, known for crashes, made an emergency landing Tuesday at an airport in Japan, forcing authorities to temporarily close the facility, Jiji Press reported.
The Osprey made an emergency landing at Matsumoto Airport in the central Japan province of Nagano around 3 p.m. local time (0600GMT).
Another Osprey also landed at the airport around 3.35 p.m. and left five minutes later.
No injury has been reported.
The airport closed temporarily, affecting some flight services.
US forces temporarily grounded the V-22 Osprey aircraft and variants due to safety concerns in December.
It came as eight people aboard a CV-22 transport aircraft died after it crashed during a routine exercise on Nov. 29, off the coast of Yakushima Island in southwestern Japan.
Since 1991, 63 incidents have been reported to have taken place involving Osprey variants. A total of 16 V-22 Ospreys have been damaged beyond repair in accidents that have killed 62 people, according to the Aviation Safety Network Database.
