Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal will travel to Washington next week for high-level talks with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on establishing a Ukraine reconstruction investment fund, according to a memorandum published Friday by the Ukrainian government.
The visit, set to begin April 21, is aimed at finalizing an agreement on the fund by April 26, with both sides committing to complete technical discussions and sign the accord soon after.
The US and Ukrainian governments signed on Thursday a memorandum of intent over a potential critical minerals deal, which will pave the way for an economic partnership and setting up the fund for the reconstruction of the war-torn country.
An Oval Office meeting in February between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy turned into a shouting match, and the signing of the deal was delayed.
