WASHINGTON
US President Donald Trump will pardon reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley, who were found guilty of tax evasion and bank fraud, according to a video posted Tuesday by Trump’s communications adviser Margo Martin on X.
In the video, Trump is seen calling the couple’s daughter, Savannah, to inform her of the decision. Savannah had lobbied for her parents’ release and spoke at the 2024 Republican National Convention.
The couple, known for their show Chrisley Knows Best, was sentenced in 2022 to a combined 19 years in prison and ordered to pay $17.8 million in restitution.
In a statement quoted by several US media outlets, Deputy White House press secretary Harrison Fields said that Trump believed the couple had been “unfairly targeted” and was “pleased to give well-deserving Americans a second chance.”
