Trump to hold Situation Room meeting amid heightened Israel-Iran tensions
Meeting follows Iran, Israel air attacks

HAMILTON, Canada
US President Donald Trump is set to hold a meeting at the White House Situation Room as tensions heightened in the Middle East, a US official confirmed Tuesday.
The closed-door meeting, expected at 1 pm local, comes amid the exchange of air attacks between Iran and Israel -- which began Friday with Israel's strikes on Iran.
There are no details disclosed about the meeting.
Trump abruptly left the G7 summit on Monday, departing a day early. He declared that Tehran should be evacuated "immediately."
Regional tensions have escalated since Friday when Israel launched airstrikes on multiple sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes.
Israeli authorities said at least 24 people have been killed and hundreds injured since then in Iranian missile attacks. Iran said at least 224 people have been killed and more than 1,000 wounded in the Israeli assault.
