US Senate confirms Michael Waltz as ambassador to UN
Trump's former national security adviser Waltz confirmed by 47-43 vote

WASHINGTON
The US Senate on Friday confirmed President Donald Trump's former national security adviser, Michael Waltz, to be US Ambassador to the UN.
Waltz was confirmed by a 47-43 vote.
Waltz came under scrutiny in March after he mistakenly included Jeffrey Goldberg, editor-in-chief of The Atlantic magazine, in a Signal app group chat where Vice President JD Vance, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and other senior officials discussed plans for an attack on Houthi targets in Yemen.
In early May, Trump announced that he had nominated Waltz to be the next US envoy to the UN.
