US President Donald Trump went after North Carolina Senator Thom Tillis for voting against his One Big Beautiful Bill, The Hill website reported Saturday.

“Looks like Senator Thom Tillis, as usual, wants to tell the Nation that he’s giving them a 68% Tax Increase, as opposed to the Biggest Tax Cut in American History,” Trump wrote on social media. “Thom Tillis is making a BIG MISTAKE for America, and the Wonderful People of North Carolina!”

“Numerous people have come forward wanting to run in the Primary against ‘Senator Thom’ Tillis” he said, indicating he will meet them in the coming weeks to look for someone “who will properly represent the Great People of North Carolina and, so importantly, the United States of America. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

“North Carolina will not allow one of their Senators to GRANDSTAND in order to get some publicity for himself, for a possible, but very difficult Re-Election,” he said.

Reiterating that the Republicans “are fighting against a very evil, corrupt and, in many ways, incompetent (Policywise!) group of people, who would rather see our Country ‘go down in flames’ than do the right thing,” Trump slammed the Democratic Party for wanting “a weak, underfunded Military, so we wouldn’t be able to do things like we did just one week ago in Iran.”

He did, however, state that Democrats have “an ability to stick together, and vote as one group (They don’t have GRANDSTANDERS!),” in reference to Republican senators Ron Johnson, Rand Paul and Tillis voting against the bill.

The Senate narrowly voted 51-49 to advance the sprawling 1,000-page bill, despite opposition from several lawmakers in the Republican Party.

Two Republicans voted against advancing the package: Paul opposed a provision to raise the debt limit by $5 trillion and Tillis said the legislation would cost his state $38.9 trillion in federal Medicaid funding.

Johnson changed his “No” vote to “Aye” and holdout Republican senators Mike Lee, Rick Scott and Cynthia Lummis also voted “Yes.”

Trump has set a July 4 deadline for Congress to get the bill to him while Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer will force the Senate clerk to read the bill in its entirety, a procedural act that will take about 12 hours, delay the start of debate and the start of a marathon series of amendment votes, known as a vote-a-rama.
