Remains of 2 girls, 1 man recovered from Nebraska biofuel plant explosion
All 3 victims confirmed as family, man identified as biofuel plant employee
ISTANBUL
The remains of two missing girls and a male relative were recovered Wednesday from a biofuel plant that exploded in the US state of Nebraska Tuesday.
Fremont Mayor Joey Spellerberg said the children, believed to be under 12, were at the Horizon Biofuels plant before a doctor’s appointment, waiting for Dylan D. Danielson, 32, an employee at the plant, according to CBS News.
Dodge County Sheriff Sgt. Brie Frank confirmed all three victims were family.
The explosion occurred Tuesday around midday at Horizon Biofuels, a manufacturer of fuel pellets and animal bedding based in Fremont, about 40 miles northwest of Omaha.
Authorities believe a wood dust explosion in an elevator tower caused the blast, with Spellerberg calling it “really the only thing that makes sense” and a tragedy.
