Early voting underway in 2024 US presidential election with more than 28M ballots cast

WASHINGTON

More than 28 million voters have cast ballots in early voting for the 60th presidential elections in the US.

According to data compiled by NBC News, a total of 28.6 million people had voted in states with early voting rights as of Oct. 24 as the countdown continues to the Nov. 5 presidential elections.

About 43% of those who have voted are registered Democrats, while 39% are registered Republicans, according to the data.

Record numbers have been reported in battleground states such as North Carolina and Georgia.

In Georgia, more than 25% of active voters have already participated while in North Carolina, more than 2 million mail-in and in-person votes were cast as of Oct. 24.

Early voting continues in Georgia until Nov. 1 and in North Carolina until Nov. 2.

Nevada, another key battleground, reported nearly 400,000 voters had cast ballots by Thursday, with registered Republicans making up 40% of those votes.
