China agrees to postpone Trump visit, working to lock in new date: White House
'We'll get the dates on the books as soon as we can,' says press secretary
HAMILTON, Canada
China has agreed to postpone the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, the White House said on Wednesday.
"We're working with them. They have agreed to postpone the trip. I think they understand the president's rationale for doing so," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters.
Noting that Washington and Beijing are working on a new date for the meeting, Leavitt said: "The president has some things here at home in May that he has to attend to, and I'm sure President Xi is a very busy man as well."
"So we'll get the dates on the books as soon as we can, and we'll keep all of you posted," she added.
