The Turkish Red Crescent on Sunday distributed humanitarian aid to displaced families in Iraq’s northern city of Halabja.

Utku Akbas, a Turkish Red Crescent official in Iraq told Anadolu Agency that the relief agency distributed 100 pieces of heaters, sleeping bags, and blankets, as well as 100 boxes of winter clothing to families in need living in central and surrounding villages of Halabja.

"Kizilay has provided winter aid to 65,000 people in Iraq since September 2018," Akbas said.

He added that the agency will continue to provide humanitarian aid to those in need in the region.

The Turkish Red Crescent has assisted displaced Iraqis since the Daesh terrorist group overran much of the country in mid-2014.
