DAR ES SALAAM
Two witch doctors were arrested Wednesday in northwestern Tanzania for allegedly killing a 40-year old albino woman.
GudawaYalema, 52, and Shiwa Masalu, 45, were arrested in Mwachalala and Gasuma villages respectively in Tanzania's Simiyu region.
"We have launched intensive investigations with a view to arresting other suspects that we think were accomplices in the crime committed by the two that have been arrested," Simiyu regional police commander Charles Mkumbo told Anadolu Agency.
"We have already appealed to residents of the villages to give us information that may lead to their arrest," he said.
He added that the suspects had allegedly broken into the woman's house, killed her and "cut off one of her legs and two of her fingers and fled."
The latest murder brings to 73 the number of Albinos killed in Tanzania since 2000.
