ANKARA
A survivor of an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) flight from Azerbaijan's capital Baku to the city of Grozny in the Russian Republic of Chechnya recorded the situation inside the plane during the moments leading up to the accident.
The passenger also documented the aftermath of the crash, including the wreckage and the surrounding atmosphere.
Despite flight attendants urging calm, the passenger continued filming, capturing the cabin's interior.
After the crash, he emerged with minor injuries and expressed his relief in a second video by exclaiming "Allahu Akbar,” an Arabic phrase used by Muslims meaning "God is great.”
At least 38 people were killed as an AZAL flight traveling from Baku to Russia crashed near the Kazakh city of Aktau on Wednesday.
Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev said during a news conference in Aktau that 38 people were killed in the crash, while 29 others were rescued.
According to a statement by AZAL on Telegram, 62 passengers and five crew members were on board the aircraft, which crashed about 3 kilometers (1.8 miles) from Aktau, as it was heading from Baku to Grozny.
