ISTANBUL

Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry on Monday said it delivered more than 30 tons of humanitarian aid to earthquake-hit Myanmar, following a directive by President Vladimir Putin and instructions from Minister Alexander Kurenkov.

The aid shipment, transported aboard an Il-76 aircraft, included canned food, grains, sugar, and medical supplies.

The operation was part of Russia’s ongoing efforts to support populations in need, the ministry said, without detailing the distribution process on the ground.

Myanmar witnessed magnitude 7.7 earthquake on March 28, leading to multiple casualties and damage to infrastructure. The earthquake has claimed over 3,600 lives and left many people injured and missing, according to state officials.
