Russia claims it took control of another settlement in Ukraine’s Donetsk region

ISTANBUL

Russia claimed on Monday that it took control of another settlement amid its ongoing offensive in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region.

A statement by the Russian Defense Ministry claimed that its forces took control of the village of Storozheve, located about 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) southwest of the town of Velyka Novosilka, a front-line settlement on the Vremivka front.

Ukraine’s General Staff claimed in a statement that Russian forces carried out 44 assaults on Ukrainian positions on the Vremivka front, including near Velyka Novosilka.

However, Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on the recent claim, and independent verification of Russia’s claim is difficult due to the ongoing war.
