Round 8 of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague gets underway

ISTANBUL

The eighth round of the 2018-19 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague regular season kicked off Tuesday.

In the first match, Turkey's Anadolu Efes beat Israel's Maccabi Fox Tel Aviv 90-77 at home in Istanbul.

Two Turkish sides also met in Istanbul, with last year’s EuroLeague finalist Fenerbahce defeating Darussafaka Tekfen 100-79.

Fenerbahce is currently in third place and Anadolu Efes fourth while Darussafaka Tekfen is at the bottom in 16th place in the EuroLeague standings.

EuroLeague competitions bring Europe's top basketball clubs together.

Sixteen teams are competing this season -- four Spanish, three Turkish, two Russian, two Greek and one team each from Germany, Italy, Israel, Lithuania and Montenegro.

Turkey is in the tournament with Anadolu Efes, Fenerbahce and Darussafaka.
