Romania declared Russia's military, air and naval attache in Bucharest, along with his deputy, persona non grata, the Foreign Ministry announced Wednesday.

The decision was taken due to "activities that violate the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations," it said in a statement.

The decision was conveyed to the Russian side, according to the ministry.

The statement did not specify the exact nature of the activities that led to the decision.
