BELGRADE (AA) – Prime Minister of Serbia Ivica Dacic opened the regional conference of police chiefs in Belgrade saying that the biggest security threats in the region are drug trafficking, production and distribution of drugs, as well as smuggling, and trafficking in arms, human beings and stolen cars.
The internal affairs ministers from Serbia and Italy jointly organise the conference, while police chiefs from Italy, Serbia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Montenegro, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina both entities, Romania, Slovenia, Hungary, and Croatia attend.
“At the same time, states of the region are going though similar problems and similar transition. Beside that, we share the same region, similar languages and huge diaspora,” Dacic said adding that in many cases criminal groups from all participant countries are working together.
"To tackle these issues effectively, we have to cooperate and to establish better interstate relations. We have to do that in order to make region safe and as such, better EU partner,” Dacic concluded.
