NEW YORK
A passenger aboard a U.S.-bound plane was restrained Tuesday after allegedly trying to open an exit door, according to U.S. police.
Massachusetts State Police said troopers took the female suspect into custody after British Airways Flight 213 from London safely landed at Logan International Airport in Boston.
The passenger, who is about 30 years old, "was intoxicated, tried to open EXIT door," police said on Twitter, correcting a previous statement that the suspect attempted to open the cockpit door.
"No known nexus to terrorism at this time," police said.
Police said the passenger, witnesses and flight crew were being interviewed and the suspect will most likely face charges of at least interfering with a flight crew.
No other details regarding the suspect's identity were immediately available.
The Boeing 777 jet had left Heathrow Airport at GMT11.37 and landed in Boston at GMT18.39, according to the airline.
