The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) announced on Tuesday that more than 700,000 Syrians had fled to neighbouring countries.
UNHCR Spokesperson Sybella Wilkes stressed, they had a huge push in the past few weeks and with the latest figures, the number of Syrian shelter seekers rose to 703,314 in the surronding countries.
In November, UNHCR stated, if the situation in Syria does not calm by June, the number of refugees who fled to neighbouring countries would go over 1.1 million.
Between December 11-January 11, the number of Syrian refugees jumped by 100 thousand, and reached 600,000.
Most of the Syrians take sheltering in Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon respectively.
