ALEPPO (AA) - September 9, 2012 - A large number of people were killed and wounded when a Syrian military jet dropped a "barrel bomb" on a residential district in Aleppo on Sunday.
One of the local activists in Aleppo, Macit Abdunnur said that a residential building was completely destroyed after a military jet dropped a "barrel bomb" full of TNT explosives.
"Many Aleppo residents arrived at the scene of the destroyed building to help those who may be under the rubble. So far, several corpses of children and women have been found under the rubble," Abdunnur stressed.
"The situation in Aleppo is getting worse every day. The affluent residents of Aleppo have already left the city but the economically disadvantaged folks continue to live here," Abdunnur stated.
TNT loaded "barrel bombs" generally lead to a 7 meters deep hole where they fall. The Syrian army in the recent past used similar bombs in Homs. "Barrel bombs" are now being used in Aleppo where the opposition forces are strong.
