BAGHDAD (AA) - September 9, 2012 - An Iraqi court on Sunday sentenced the Iraqi Vice-President Tariq al-Hashemi and one of his guards Ahmad Kahtan to death.
Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA), the official spokesperson for the Iraqi High Council of Justice, Judge Abdussettar Bayraktar said that the Iraqi Central Homicide Court on Sunday sentenced al-Hashemi and Kahtan to death by hanging.
"Al-Hashemi and Kahtan received their penalty, under the fourth article of the Law on Counter-terrorism, for instigating murder and extending support to terror," Bayraktar stated.
"Al-Hashemi may appeal the court's decision," Bayraktar also said.
