Kyrgyzstan has banned all activities of Daesh, authorities said Wednesday.
The press center of the National Security committee of Kyrgyzstan said in a statement that it had applied to the court for a ban to come into place. The move was aimed at preventing extremism and terrorism.
Upon the request, a Bishkek court decided to ban all Daesh-linked activities.
Emil Ceenbekov, head of the anti-terror branch in the Kyrgyz interior ministry, told The Anadolu Agency that about 220 people, including 30 women, had left the country for Iraq and Syria.
He said most of them had joined Daesh and 22 of them were killed.
Kyrgyzstan Religious Affairs Committee, in cooperation with the Muslim Committee and the interior ministry, said they will continue to educate the population against extremism through joint campaigns, mainly in educational institutions.
