KABUL, Afghanistan
Thirteen people and four gunmen have died in an attack at a luxury hotel in the Afghan capital Kabul on Thursday.
An Afghan interior ministry official said four Taliban militants opened fire in the five-star Kabul Serena Hotel. All four gunmen and thirteen people including four foreigners, were killed after three hours of clashes with security forces.
"The assailants, each of them under 18, entered the hotel, hiding their pistols in their socks," Afghan Interior Ministry Spokesman Sediq Sediqi said.
The Taliban has reportedly claimed responsibility.
Located near the presidential palace, the hotel is frequented by foreigners, including diplomats and journalists.
