BAMAKO, Mali
Unidentified gunmen attacked Monday night a hotel that serves as a training base for a European Union military mission in capital Bamako in Mali, a Malian security source told Anadolu Agency.
Gunfire and an explosion was heard at the hotel Azalai in ACI 2000, a booming part of Bamako, the same source said without stating the number of attackers nor the number of victims.
The EU mission in Mali has confirmed the attack on Twitter.
Last November, gunmen attacked Radisson Blue hotel in Mali killing 22 people.
Recent months have seen sporadic militant attacks in West Africa.
Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) had claimed responsibility for recent attacks against hotels in Mali, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso.
