BAMAKO, Mali
Mali has claimed that it has cured its last Ebola patient.
The country’s Ministry of Health stated Friday that the last patient infected with the Ebola virus has been discharged from hospital after 12 days of treatment.
Six deaths due to the virus were confirmed in the West African country.
Mali is expected to be officially declared free of Ebola, like neighboring Nigeria and Senegal, which also fought the deadly disease.
The death toll from the Ebola outbreak has increased to 6,388 out of 17,942 cases of infection in three other affected West African countries – Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone – according to the World Health Organization.
