UNITED NATIONS
Over 50 countries on Monday demanded that the UN Security Council refer the Syria conflict to the International Criminal Court (ICC) for a war crimes investigation.
Switzerland sent a petition to the UN Security Council on behalf of over 50 countries and demanded the UN Security Council to ensure the punishments of those committing war crimes in Syria.
Supported by the permanent members of UN Security Council France and Britain, it is stated in the letter that "the situation in Syria is worsening due to the attacks and ruthlessness on civilians".
"At the very least, the council should send out an unequivocal message urging the Syrian authorities and all other parties to fully respect international human rights," the letter states.
