Bosnia and Herzegovina begins to form new government

SARAJEVO, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Bosnia and Herzegovina has begun to establish a new government following presidential and parliamentary elections.

According to unofficial results on Monday from the seventh presidential and parliamentary elections since the end of the Bosnian War nearly 20 years ago, the winning party - the Democratic Action (SDA), founded by the first President of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alija Izetbegovic, in 1990 - increased its number of deputies to 10 in the 42-seat House of Representatives and 10 in parliament.

With five deputies, the Democratic Front Party (DF),  founded in 2013 by the former Croatian member of Bosnia and Herzegovina Tripartite Presidency of the Council, Zeljko Komsic, will form one of the major political parties in parliament.

The biggest representative for Croats in Bosnia, the Democratic Union (HDZ BIH), will have four deputies in the House of Representatives for this term.

Meanwhile, the Association of Better Future (SBB), led by the former Defence Minister Fahrudin Radoncic, will also have four deputies.

The elections' biggest loser was the Social Democratic Party (SDP), which saw its number of deputies in the House of Representatives fall from eight to three.

The Independent Social Democratic Union Party (SNSD) saw its deputies decrease from eight to six.

One of the major leading Serb parties in the country, the Serbian Democratic Party (SDS), got five seats in the House of Representatives, an increase of one.

Twelve political parties will take their place in the House of Representatives in the new term.
