A powerful explosion in central Damascus killed at least 16 people on Tuesday.
According to Syrian national news agency SANA, the blast occurred near the Interior Ministry and Damascus Tower shopping mall in Damascus central district of Marjeh.
Sources said, the attack targeted the Syrian Interior Ministry.
Meanwhile, Syrian state-run TV reported that the attack was carried out with a vehicle laden with explosives against the ministry and that it was a "terrorist attack".
On Monday, seven people were killed and many wounded due to a blast that took place near a park in Mezzeh neighborhood of Syrian capital, Damascus. Syrian state TV channel announced on Monday that the bomb attack targeted Prime Minister al-Halqi but that al-Halqi survived the blast with no injuries.
Assad regime blamed Syrian opposition for the attacks.
On the other hand, Syrian National Coalition for Opposition & Revolutionary Forces referred to the recent explosions in central Damascus and released a statement saying, "These are plots of Assad regime to deceive international public opinion."
