Syrian regime war planes Tuesday bombed the Turkmen district of the Syrian port city of Latakia killing at least one person and injuring an unconfirmed number, according to local authorities.
Syrian regime war planes hit some houses in the villages of the Turkmen Bayir-Bucak district. The sound of explosions were also heard in the Turkish district of Yayladagi, near the Syrian border.
Two days before, Assad regime forces took control of Kasebier town, near the Bayir-Bucak district.
Syria has been gripped by almost constant fighting since the regime launched a violent crackdown in response to anti-government protests in March 2011, triggering a conflict which has spiraled into civil war.
The UN stopped updating its death toll for the country because an official count has become too difficult to verify. At least 100,000 deaths were recorded in the last official count in July 2013.
