Seven people were killed and 20 injured on Monday evening in an attack by Shiite Houthi rebels in Yemen's flashpoint town of Dammaj, eyewitnesses said.
According to witnesses, Houthi militants attacked the city with heavy weapons, leaving seven people dead.
The Houthi group has yet to respond to the accusations.
Since 2011, the northern Yemeni town of Dammaj has seen several rounds of fighting between the Shiite rebels and Salafist militants, which have left dozens dead.
A presidential mediation committee has thus far been unable to enforce a ceasefire between the two sides.
Salafist figures accused the Houthis of besieging the only Salafist-controlled town in Yemen's Shiite-majority Saada province, while the Houthis claimed they had been trying to flush out foreign extremist and takfiri elements.
