ANKARA

Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held separate phone calls with his counterparts from Oman, Qatar, Estonia, the Netherlands, and Brazil, Turkish diplomatic sources said Friday.

Fidan spoke with Oman's Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and Estonia's Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna.

No further details on the content of the discussions were immediately available.

Fidan also spoke with Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen, and Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira. The calls with Berendsen and Vieira were part of discussions evaluating the regional crisis.

Regional tensions have escalated due to the US and Israeli attacks on Iran that started on Feb. 28. Tehran has since launched retaliatory attacks against Israel and regional countries, including those in the Gulf that host US bases, disrupting global markets.

Israel has also expanded its offensive against Hezbollah in Lebanon, where a ceasefire was reached with the group in late 2024.
