Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday underscored the importance of Gaza reconstruction, pledging that Türkiye will take all necessary measures to address the humanitarian and shelter needs of Palestinians ahead of the winter, following a summit on Gaza in Egypt hosted by US President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

Earlier Monday, Trump and Sisi hosted more than 20 world leaders, including President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in the Egyptian resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh for a summit to sign a Gaza ceasefire deal.

The ceremony began with the arrival of leaders from numerous countries, and the US president delivered the opening speech.

Erdogan, Trump, Sisi, and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani then signed the agreement.

Speaking to Turkish journalists on board a return flight from Egypt, Erdogan described the diplomacy with Trump as “extremely important” and vowed to continue it with “the same sensitivity.”

He called the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit signatures “not just symbolic—they mark our commitment to peace as a part of history” and said Türkiye is “highly enthusiastic about the establishment of a peace order in Gaza.”

Regarding reconstruction of the besieged enclave, Erdogan said Türkiye is seeking support “from all—from the Gulf countries to the United States and Europe” and emphasized that ongoing efforts aim to ensure the genocide in Gaza “is not forgotten.”

He added that about 350 humanitarian aid trucks from Türkiye have entered Gaza in recent days, noting that the Hamas-Israel agreement envisions at least 600 trucks daily.

The Turkish president also reiterated Türkiye’s position on Palestine, saying: “The only solution to the Palestinian cause is the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with full territorial integrity, based on the 1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

Regarding Syria, Erdogan said Türkiye is issuing frequent warnings for the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to “not take the wrong paths” and support Syria’s unity and territorial integrity, adding that “rapid integration of Syrian Democratic Forces with Syria will also accelerate Syria's development initiatives.”
