Turkish foreign minister addresses ministerial preparatory summit on sidelines of UN General Assembly
Hakan Fidan highlights issues of global governance, multilateralism at meeting
TORONTO
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan addressed the preparatory ministerial meeting of the Summit of the Future held Thursday on the margins of the 78th UN General Assembly, according to the Foreign Ministry.
Fidan emphasized steps needed for the transformation of global governance, strengthening multilateralism and reform of the UN.
He reiterated Türkiye's commitment in that direction, the ministry wrote on X.
Fidan also held separate meetings with his counterparts from Belarus, Bahrain, Spain, Panama, Cuba, Slovakia, Nicaragua and Bulgaria.
Following a meeting with Panama’s Foreign Affairs Minister Janaina Tewaney, a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of a political consultation mechanism was signed between Panama and Türkiye, the Turkish Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a post on X.
