Turkish ambassador applauds Anadolu’s efforts in documenting Gaza war crimes

LONDON

Türkiye's ambassador to London applauded Anadolu for recording human rights violations in Gaza, as he attended the launch of The Evidence documentary at the British parliament on Thursday.

After publishing a photobook on Israeli actions in the blockaded Palestinian enclave since Oct. 7, 2023, Türkiye’s premier news agency produced a 52-minute documentary recording the war crimes. It consists of photographs and images taken by Anadolu reporters, as well as interviews with experts in the field.

Speaking to Anadolu correspondents, Ertas said the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza has been continuing for over 200 days, and reminded that two separate legal processes against Israel were underway, one at the International Court of Justice, and the other at International Criminal Court.

While the “world has closed its eyes to human rights violations and the tragedy of Palestine, Anadolu has truly become not only the pride of our country, but also the pride of the whole world” and the international rule-based order, he said.

He emphasized that Anadolu has meticulously documented these violations firsthand, acknowledging that the agency even lost its colleagues in this endeavor.

He extended congratulations to Anadolu staffers, and the entire organization for their dedication and sacrifices.

The book and the documentary film will show that international law is not only valid for a certain group, but for all countries, including Israel, Ertas added.
