Representatives of Turkish institutions and organizations operating in Azerbaijan on Tuesday gathered for iftar, the fast-breaking evening meal of Muslims in Ramadan, in the capital Baku.

The iftar program was attended by Türkiye's Ambassador to Baku Birol Akgun, the Representative of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in Baku Ambassador Ufuk Turganer, representatives of Turkish institutions and organizations, and teachers working in Turkish educational institutions.

The program began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, and guests broke their fast with the call to prayer and were served traditional Azerbaijani dishes.

During the event, Ambassador Akgun said that they consider Azerbaijan their homeland and that the unity and solidarity of Turkish citizens here is important.

Noting that the region was going through a difficult period, Akgun said that the vision, solidarity, and joint action of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev play a role in “guaranteeing peace and stability for both countries.”
