Turkish stocks flat at daily close

ANKARA

Turkey's benchmark stock index ended Tuesday with a bump of 0.01 percent to close at 101,742.14 points.

After opening the day at 101,845.16 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index increased 13.63 points from the previous close.

Peaking at 101,978.90 points, the BIST 100's daily low was 100,713.10 points during Tuesday's trading, as 46 stocks on the index rose, 44 fell, and 10 were flat compared to the previous close.

With a market value of 664.6 billion Turkish liras ($125.6 billion), the benchmark index posted a 6 billion Turkish lira ($1.13 billion) daily trading volume.

By market capitalization, the leading companies of the BIST 100 were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding, private lender Garanti Bankasi, and energy giant Tupras.

Turkey's national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, Garanti Bankasi, and iron and steel producer Eregli Demir Celik saw the highest trade volumes of the day.

Stocks of real estate investment trust Ihlas Gayrimenkul suffered the largest decline on Tuesday -- down 4.46 percent -- while shares of casting manufacturer Cemas Dokum showed the best performance, rising 7.79 percent.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate remained unchanged at 5.3030 as of the daily close, versus Monday's close.

One euro traded for 5.9960 liras, compared to 6.0080 at the previous close.

The British pound/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.8870 by market close, up from Monday's close of 6.8560.

One ounce of gold was sold for $1,329.50 at the daily close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

With a day range of $65.58 to $66.66, the price of Brent oil was around $66.24 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Tuesday.
