BEIRUT (AA) - September 11, 2012 - Lebanese army has said that Turkish businessman Aydin Tufan Tekin is fine and still being held captive by Mikdad tribe.
According to information that AA received from Lebanese army officials on Tuesday, some members of Mikdad tribe were taken into custody after Tuesday's operation held against the Al-Mikdad tribe's several houses to rescue the hostages that included Turkish businessman Tekin.
Kidnapped on August 16 in Beirut by Lebanese Mikdad tribe, Tekin was not rescued on Tuesday's operation.
Hostage rescuing operation against Al-Mikdad family
Lebanese Minister of Interior Marwan Charbel has said Lebanese forces held an operation against the Al-Mikdad family to rescue the hostages that included a Turkish businessman.
Charbel said that 4 Syrian hostages were rescued in the operation.
However there were no statements given about the Turkish businessman, Aydin Tufan Tufek, who was also believed to have been kidnapped by Mikdad family for swap of hostages.
Charbel stated on the LBC Television channel that the head of the Mikdad family's army, Hassan Al-Mikdad was taken into custody.
On the other hand, LBC Television stated in their news that alongside 4 Syrians, 2 Turkish citizens were rescued as well.
Lebanese authorities have not made any statements about the Turkish hostages yet.
