ANKARA
The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has completed renovating two orphanages in Tanzania in cooperation with the Turkish embassy in Dar es Salaam.
Chakuwama and Mwani (Airport) orphanages, which will host 200 children, were recently renovated and furnished according to a statement issued by TIKA on Wednesday.
"Thousands of children - who lost their parents due to the poverty, AIDS or malaria - live in inadequate, overcrowded orphanages under bad health requirements in Africa", TIKA said.
Mwani (Airport) was opened by Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu with a ceremony on May 31.
The project aims to improve the conditions for orphans in Tanzania, TIKA added.
