ANKARA
Turkey's President Abdullah Gul congratulated Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on his inauguration as Egypt's president, the Turkish Office of Presidency said Wednesday.
In a message sent to the new leader, Gul said that he had no doubts that the deep-rooted relations between Turkey and Egypt would continue, and sent his best wishes for the peace, stability and well-being of the Egyptian people.
Sisi – who led the army's ousting last summer of elected President Mohamed Morsi – won last month's presidential election in a landslide victory, securing almost 97 percent of the vote during which more than half of the eligible voters did not go to polls.
