Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Saturday, condemning a failed armed attack on Ahmed Dogan, leader of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF), a political party in Bulgaria that represents the country's ethnic Turks.
"It is a relief that hear that the armed attack was unsuccessful, the attacker was caught and that Dogan's health condition was good," the statement said.
The statement also said Turkey attached great importance to relations with Bulgaria.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul also sent a message to Dogan, expressing his sadness over the incident.
