CAIRO
Turkish national air carrier, Turkish Airlines or THY, will begin flights to Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada cities of Egypt as of October 9.
Egyptian Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou had a meeting with THY's representatives in Cairo on Friday.
Following the meeting minister Zaazou said that to boost the tourism sector in his country, they demanded to make further cooperation with THY.
Zoozou stated that in the light of their request, THY would begin scheduled flights to Sharm El-Sheikh and Hurghada cities as of October 9.
Zoozou also stated that they wanted to take advantages of Turkey's knowledge and experiences.
Meanwhile, the representatives of THY said that they would make new advertisements to introduce Egypt's touristic places.
Headquartered in Istanbul, THY operates scheduled services to 150 international and 41 domestic cities (38 domestic airports), serving a total of 187 airports, in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas.
Turkish Airlines increased its sales revenue by 40% in 2011, compared to 2010, and recorded operating profit of 339 million TL (185.04 million USD). Net profit came in at 19 million TL (10.3 million USD).
Number of passengers carried increased by 12%, reaching 32.7 million in 2011.
