Spokesperson of the United States Department of State Jen Psaki said all sides needed to focus on avoiding violence related to the Taksim Gezi Park incidents.
"We urge all sides to be sure of not incresing the rhetorics and focus on avoiding violence" Psaki said.
The White House also called for restraint for the Taksim sit-in protest in which police intervened by using tear gas and water cannon against the protestors. Those staging the sit-in protested the demolition of Gezi Park and uprooting of the trees.
