Opposition MP resigns from Turkey's parliamentary body
CHP lawmaker Ozturk Yilmaz claims Foreign Affairs Committee serves no purpose

ANKARA
A senior lawmaker of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) resigned on Monday from his post in the Turkish Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee.
Speaking to reporters in the parliament, Ozturk Yilmaz claimed that the committee "has not served any purpose".
"I resign from my post in the Foreign Affairs Committee, which has not achieved any result," said Ozturk, who is a lawmaker from eastern Ardahan province.
Yilmaz added that he would continue to take
Turkey's former EU Minister Volkan Bozkir chairs the committee of 26 members.
CHP will assign a new member to the committee following the resignation.
