The library of Heybeliada Seminary in Istanbul has more than 80,000 publications and the collection includes some of the world's oldest printed books.

Library of Heybeliada Seminary has more than 80,000 printed publications

ISTANBUL

The library of Heybeliada Seminary in north-western province of Istanbul has more than 80,000 publications and the collection includes some of the world's oldest printed books.
The library is located at the Aya Triada monastery and has five rooms.
Volunteers at the monastery are working on classification for the publications. There are dozens of publications on religion, philosophy and literature at the library.
One of the shelves at the library have been reserved for the Holy Bible and the Holy Torah.
Speaking to the Anadolu Agency (AA), the Metropolitan Bishop of Bursa working under the auspices of the Fener Greek Patriarchate, Elpidophoros Lambriniadis stated that the "library, the treasure and the culture is not merely ours. It belongs to whole Turkey. It is the richness of Turkey, it is the richness of our motherland."
