Plevneliev, who was welcomed by religious officials, held a closed-door meeting with Bartholomew for about an hour.
Plevneliev visited the St. Stephen Bulgarian Church also known as the "Iron Church" in Fatih neighborhood of Istanbul and examined the Marmaray tunnel construction prior to the meeting.
