ANKARA
"Ticket to Bollywood" dance performance took place in Turkish capital Ankara on Monday evening.
Indian Ambassador in Ankara Susmita Gongulee Thomas spoke at the opening of the event and said that it was Secretary General of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party Haluk Ipek's idea to organize a Bollywood-themed event to blend Turkish and Indian cultures more.
Organized by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Indian Embassy in Ankara, "Ticket to Bollywood" was performed by 16 dancers who came from Indian capital city, Mumbai.
Director of the "Ticket to Bollywood" show, Shubhra Bhardwaj told AA that from technical team to costume designers, all team members were from the Bollywood film industry in Mumbai. Bhardwaj who has been directing the team since 2010 stressed, they would be performing in Turkey for the first time and said, they performed in Canada, U.S., Caribbean, Japan, Russia, Germany, France and Greece before.
She described the difference between the Bollywood films and "Ticket to Bollywood" show as saying, "This show is almost like paying tribute to the industry. When you see a Bollywood dance on the screen, you can pause it however, this is a live show. So we recreate that powerful dancing in the auditorium. The unique points of this production are the energy and the colour."
She highlighted that all the costumes were based in technique as dancers had to change their costumes as fast as they could throughout the 90-minute-long show which formed in three parts. She added that there were no buttons neither zips attached on the costumes, they were all made from elasticated fabrics.
Spent 15 years in the Bollywood industry and being the choreographer of the show, Pravarsen Yesambare told AA that this fixed production had been travelling around the world to perform dances from Bollywood in the past 4 years.
One of the dancers of "Ticket to Bollywood" said that she had been dancing for 6 years both in Bollywood productions and live on stage. She added that it was wonderful to travel around the world to promote Indian culture and what India presented through dance and Bollywood.
Alongside the Indian Ambassador Thomas, the event which took place at the MEB Sura auditorium hosted ambassadors of Japan, Chile, Colombia, Australia, Latvia, Kyrgyzstan, Haluk Ipek, Turkish officials from Foreign Ministry and Tourism Ministry, officials of the Indian embassy, many other guests and Bollywood fans called BollyTurk.

Despite being used incorrectly for the whole of Indian cinema, the Bollywood is one the film industries in Cinema of India. Bollywood is the film industry of Hindi-language films based in Mumbai. The name "Bollywood" comes from Bombay (the former name of Indian capital, Mumbai) and Hollywood (the centre of the American film industry). Bollywood is the largest film producer in India and unlike Hollywood, it does not exist as a physical place. Aside Hindi-language films, Cinema of India produce films in several other languages which are spoken in India.
Lately, the use of English language in some Bollywood-made products started to become popular.
