Zalgiris hammer Anadolu Efes in EuroLeague

ANKARA 

Turkish basketball club Anadolu Efes were handed a 96-70 loss by Lithuania's Zalgiris Kaunas in a Wednesday Turkish Airlines EuroLeague regular season game.

Former champions Anadolu Efes are enduring a turbulent season in the EuroLeague with the Istanbul team losing 15 games in 24 rounds to be in the lower ranks.

Zalgiris Kaunas have a 9-15 win/loss record.

Anadolu Efes' US forward Will Clyburn was the game's top scorer with 19 points.

Darius Thompson racked up 17 points to join Clyburn in double figures.

Laurynas Birutis led Zalgiris Kaunas with 18 points.

Rolands Smits, Brady Manek and Edgaras Ulanovas scored 13 points each for the winners.

Meanwhile, a Willy Hernangomez-led Barcelona thrashed Virtus Segafredo Bologna 84-57 in Spain to keep second spot.

Hernangomez scored 17 points, and Nico Laprovittola added 16 for Barcelona.

Isaia Cordinier was Virtus Bologna's top scorer with 12 points. Iffe Lundberg scored 11 for the visitors.

Barcelona has won 16 games in 24 rounds to be after leaders Real Madrid, who have 21 wins this season.

Fifth in standings, Virtus Bologna are going 15-9.
